In July 2022, I joined the King team at Xbox as a Graphic Designer in the Performance Marketing Department. During this time, I worked on popular games such as Candy Crush Saga and Farm Heroes Saga.
King fosters a highly collaborative and creative environment, where I’ve had the opportunity to contribute ideas and develop engaging marketing strategies. The supportive atmosphere encourages both innovation and experimentation, making every project a truly enjoyable experience.
Below are just a few examples of my work...
TRAPPED BEAR
I designed and illustrated marketing banners featuring the Bubblegum Troll trapping a Bear. I created the Bubblegum Troll from scratch, ensuring his mischievous personality shone through in each piece. The banners were designed to be vibrant and engaging, capturing the playful chaos of the game while reinforcing brand identity and player excitement.
PUMPKIN CAKE
Here I designed autumn-themed marketing assets featuring a festive pumpkin setting and a bold red, orange, and yellow striped cake. The artwork embraces warm seasonal tones to create a cozy yet vibrant atmosphere, capturing the essence of fall while staying true to the game’s playful and eye-catching aesthetic.
BUBBLE BEAR
One of my first tasks at King was designing a Bubble Bear banner. While waiting to be set up on King’s asset library, I created the Bear asset. At the time, the mascot’s design was still being refined, and we experimented with various eye designs before settling on the final look. This version of the Bear featured pupils, which was an experimental design choice. Additionally, we tested the design both with and without the ‘Have Fun’ badge to see which resonated best with the audience.
DIP THE COOKIE
For Valentine’s Day, I designed a Valentine’s-themed marketing banner featuring a heart-shaped cookie dipped in rich jam instead of the usual chocolate. This creative choice was made to enhance the romantic feel of the artwork, using red tones to better capture the warmth and sweetness of Valentine’s Day while staying true to the playful and colourful Candy Crush aesthetic.
FEATURE GRAPHIC ASO
In addition to creating marketing banners, I also worked on feature graphics for Farm Heroes Saga’s App Store, experimenting with different variations of my design to test which resonated most with fans. The graphics featured a variety of characters, and through iterative testing, I refined the visuals to enhance engagement and ensure the most effective representation of the game on the App Store.
PRIDE KEYART
For Pride, I designed a Farm Heroes Saga banner featuring a vibrant rainbow flowing into a basket, piled to the brim with colourful cropsies. The basket I crafted served as the focal point, ensuring a strong visual anchor across all 13 variations of the banner, regardless of aspect ratio. This design not only celebrated diversity and inclusivity but also maintained the bright, playful essence of Farm Heroes Saga.
Since my time at King, I have continued my connection with Xbox through my work at EXG Pro, where I design packaging, marketing assets, and product concept art for officially licensed collectibles. This includes franchises such as Halo, Call of Duty, Fallout, Doom, The Elder Scrolls, Minecraft, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, and Diablo.
Notable projects include creating the artwork for the Dogmeat Digiplate from Fallout, the chase plate of the set, and designing the packaging for our Zombie Ghost Cable Guy. For this, I customized Activision’s existing style guide, incorporating blood splatters and other zombie-themed elements. All designs go through an approval process with their respective teams at Xbox, ensuring high-quality and brand-authentic products.
