Boney's Research On Humans is a top-down stealth game where you must gather as much information on humans as possible. Boney, an aspiring journalist, is always on the hunt for the next big scoop. When he gets a tip about a secret lab operation, he stumbles upon the biggest story of his undead life! Now, he must return to Monsternett and share his findings with the world—an investigation that even earned a feature in Skull Commando Labs Side Scroller Magazine.

When I first joined the Boney's Research On Humans team, my primary responsibility was designing a variety of in-game assets, ranging from high-score trophies to basic decor. Below are some of the assets I created.

PLANTS

I designed two types of plant pots to add a dynamic, natural touch to the game environment. The small plant pot gradually blooms into a flower over time, offering a subtle visual reward as players progress. The large plant pot features bigger plants like cacti and serves a dual purpose—when empty, it becomes a clever hiding spot for players to sneak ixnto, adding a fun gameplay mechanic.

HIGHSCORE

To make high scores feel more rewarding than simple text displays, I designed a set of trophies to visually represent player performance. These trophies—bronze, silver, gold, and platinum—offer a clear and satisfying way to celebrate player achievements at the end of each level.

LARGE TILESET

I created versatile, larger assets like sand pits and stone paths that can be expanded to any size. This flexibility allows level designers to build without layout restrictions, ensuring smoother and more creative map designs.

DECOR

I also crafted a range of decorative assets specifically for Boney’s house, adding personality and charm to the in-game environment. These pieces help flesh out Boney’s living space, making it feel more immersive and alive.

After demonstrating my skills with static assets, I took on more complex tasks, including creating 10 character costumes that players could wear. For half of the costumes, I came up with the idea to collaborate with other indie game developers to create an Indie Crossover Pack. To bring this to life, I personally reached out to indie devs and coordinated the collaborations. Each design I created was approved by both the respective indie teams and the Boney's Research On Humans team, ensuring that every costume fit seamlessly into the game while staying true to the original indie titles.
